In this tutorial we had to use "Liquify" in photoshop to exaggerate and distort a photo in order to make it into a caricature.
In this picture I made the nose, cheeks, and smile larger. There was an emphasis on the nose as it is very defined. The cheeks and smiles were also emphasized because he is always smiling which makes his cheeks really come out. It shows that he is a really happy and joyful person. I made his hands slightly larger to emphasize his martial arts background. His hair is also slightly larger because he always seems to have that hairstyle nowadays and it is always thick and volumed. Now don't take this a the wrong way but I also made his eyes slightly smaller. Not because he's asian though...It's ok I'm asian too so it's not that bad...is it?
For this picture I had to take the caricature above and create linework based on it. I used really bold and thick lines because to symbolize all the tough and bold feats Jackie always does, he always does his own stunts and the like after all. For both the hair and clothing I used a dry brush, however for the hair I smudged it around a bit to somewhat mirror the directions his hair is flowing. I blurred his hand and arm to mimic the original photo. Thick lines were basically used for outlining and thin lines for detailing.
P.S. Drawing/coloring with a mouse sucks. But it helps a little I guess as this tutorial is similar to woodblocking where it's pretty rough and all.
